Elective
courses.
An elective is, by definition, a course that the student
does not have to do. These are courses we offer to help
round out the student's experience, and in some cases, just
for fun.
Some "elective" courses, such as
All Purpose Civics,
may well fulfill required needs, such as a Civics course
for a state, or a country other than the United States.
That's what that course is designed to do. The same could
be said for our P.E. course, as P.E. is generally a required

UPPER SCHOOL ELECTIVES
Connect The Thoughts currently offers an extensive program of Elective courses. An elective is, by definition, a course that the student does not have to do. These are courses we offer to help round out the student's experience, and in some cases, just for fun.
Some "elective" courses, such as All Purpose Civics, may well fulfill required needs, such as a Civics course for a state, or a country other than the United States. That's what that course is designed to do. The same could be said for our P.E. course, as P.E. is generally a required part of "school". (That said, there are many ways to do "P.E.", such as taking the homeschool student to dance, martial arts, or organized participation sports on a regular basis. There are many ways to provide P.E. We offer our course for those families that are very limited in what they can do in this regard for the student.)
Other courses. such as Baseball, or How To Take A Vacation, are about fun. (The baseball course can serve as P.E.!)
Additionally, we do offer additional elective courses not found on this page, because they have pages of their own. These include Literature Guides that cover in detail some of the greatest stories and authors. We also offer elective reading guides in Science Fiction and in Fantasy Literature. Other electives include Current Events courses that discuss at length global and local issues that every student (and adult) should be aware of. More electives are available from Connect The Thoughts in the arts, including multiple-course studies of Acting, Animation, Creative Writing, Music Theory and Composition, and Music History. And we offer many history/creative writing elective courses, each one formed around a specific holiday, where the student learns about its history, and then develops two original stories of their own about that holiday.
The arts, current events, civics, P.E., literature! Connect The Thoughts is ready to provide your student a creative and well-rounded educational experience beyond mere "requirements"!
