The eighth course in our Parent/Teacher/Tutor program, the full title of this course is Socialization In The Homeschool Environment - Succeeding At Education In Spite of the Culture. This is the third course in our parent/teacher/tutor program that focuses on homeschooling and its unique needs.
Using the book Poor Cheated Little Johnny as its core text, in 12 lesson plans which will take anywhere from 12-40 hours to do (in the privacy of your home), this course uses the same techniques as our courses to teach you how to work successfully in a homeschool environment.
This course starts by revealing the dark, hidden birth of the concept of "socialization", and how it is used as a part of education today to manipulate and control students and their parents. Yes, you read that correctly. For the concept of "socialization" clearly serves no other purpose.
No concept in education is as engrained or as destructive as the idea that we should educate toward a "socialized" individual, one who plays well in the sandbox with others. Yet history is made of individuals who did NOT get along, who went their own way and gave us nearly all of the inventions, art and ideas that we cherish!
The educational road to "socialization" is the same dead-end road to mediocrity and personal (and national) failure.
What can socialization be replaced by that both the student and teacher can utilize to improve the education and the chances of success for the student? The surprises wait in this eye-opening course. You will never teach in the same way after doing this course, and your students will be the beneficiaries.
This course offers more than common sense suggestions, but actual techniques and tools that you can use every day to improve the educative experience.
