CREATIVE WRITING

VIDEO: ABOUT Lower School Creative Writing

Creative Writing is the "crown jewel" of our curricula. Starting with the most basic basics which explain what "writing" is, the student rapidly develops a complete understanding of the elements of great story telling, including plotting, characterization, dialogue and action. These are thoroughly detailed, and the student is always given many exercises, in order to truly improve their understanding and skills. This part of our curricula, authored by an Emmy-award winning writer/educator, has been in very successful use for nine years. After completing the first five courses (around 2-3 years), a student may do one of our Master's courses in writing, in specialized areas such as Playwriting ; Screenwriting (TV/film) ; Poetry & Lyrics ; Novels and Short Stories ; Creative Nonfiction ; and Marketing & P.R. (Our Master's Courses can be done by serious writers who already have some real experience and interest in that field, without having done earlier Creative Writing courses.)

CREATIVE WRITING COURSES OVERVIEW

Authored by an Emmy and Dramalogue-award winning writer whose works are produced, performed and published throughout the world,  our Creative Writing program has effectively helped many students become "writers"!  As a student completes courses, he or she gains skills in story development, characterization, structure...every important area of expertise a writer needs.

The end result of our Creative Writing program is a student who can express themselves in their chosen "medium", be it novels and short stories, screenplays, poetry or lyrics, promo and P.R., creative non-fiction, TV writing or you name it - professionally and compellingly, with confidence, artistry and effectiveness.

To find out a lot more about our Creative Writing program, please use the menu bar that runs across the top of this page.  Go to Lower School and pull down its menu.  There you'll find a link to Creative Writing.  Using that link will bring you to a page with a video (top left corner) that explains in deatil this program.  You'll also find on that same page descriptions and samples of each Creative Writing course, as well as articles about this program.
