Connect The Thoughts utilizes a different "breakdown" than do public or most private schools, as to the placement of students. Generally, Elementary School in the United States covers children ages 5-6 to children around 11-12 years old. Connect The Thoughts works with the students literacy first, and then their age, in order to place the student correctly.
Students who are pre-literate, or who have developed little literacy, generally do our Starter Curricula. Students who are age 5-6 also generally do Starter.
Students who have developed some literacy, or who are ages 7-8, generally use our Elementary curricula.
Students who read well and who are ages 9-10 generally use our Lower School Curricula.
Students who are literate and ages 11-adult use our Upper School program.
Using this breakdown, you can see that most Middle School (or Junior High) students will be using our Upper School Program.
If you are still not certain where to place your student, please read the article about placement of students here , and then use the appropriate free reading tests provided here on this site, on the "homepage" for each level except Starter. (Starter has no reading test as it's for pre-literate students.) For instance, if you click on the 'Resources & Help' tab, in the dropdown, you'll find a link to the reading test for that level. There will also be a video there describing the use of our reading tests.
