ABOUT CONNECT THE THOUGHTS - ELEMENTARY CURRICULUM PROGRAM
Elementary Curriculum
is for students ages 7 to 8, and for students who are
developing literacy.
It differs from our
Starter Curricula
in several key respects. One of these is that the student
doing
Elementary
courses should read fairly well for their age, and be
developing literacy. The reading is kept simple, but nearly
every lesson plan involves some reading. Another key
difference is that
Elementary
courses begin to impart more defined information than
Starter.
The video found at the top of this page will explain far
more about this level of curricula.
If you have a student or students who fit this
category, we recommend watching the video, and then looking
at the many samples of courses and additional videos
describing each subject. On this page, you'll also
find links to each subject offered in Elementary.
These include Creative Writing, History, Science, and Living
Your Life. The links will take you to a page
describing each subject, and each of these pages have their
own videos describing that subject and how it is taught.
The entire two year (four semester) program for Elementary is now available!
In total, Elementary Curriculum consists of four semester's (two years) worth of curriculum in four areas of study, requiring about 3-4 hours of study per day.
The end result of the Elementary Curriculum is a bright, interested, active student who has a better than rudimentary understanding of various subjects, and who is ready for more difficult work involving serious amounts of reading, research and thought. Another result of the design for Elementary is a student who trusts and develops his own insights, creativity, qualities of expression and abilities.
Please note - Many of the required films or music have links provided so that there may be no need to secure them. However, we cannot guarantee that all the links will be "live" or active when you use them. You may need to secure films or music in other ways. No film or music selected is very hard to secure. Any book required will need to be secured by you, though a great deal of reading material built in to the courses (such as The Story of Mankind) is built directly into the courses and so do not need to be secured.
